What is the Bishop’s Storehouse?

The point of the Bishop’s Storehouse is to receive temporary assistance until you can get on your feet. It is a great resource when needed, but not something that should be used long-term. Although, I do understand that everyone’s situation varies.

The local Bishop is the one who will determine who receives food from the storehouse. For more information, here is a great article on the Bishop’s Storehouse.

Ebook Use

Although I love blogging, my blog is one way that I am supporting my children as a single parent (who does not receive child support). Information like this takes a lot of time to prepare and I do ask that this ebook be used for personal use only. We all need a little help sometimes

No matter how self-reliant we try to be, unfortunately, sometimes things happen. Whether you’re a single parent and just can’t figure out how to get by one month, or you are in between jobs, there’s somewhere you can go for help. We all need help at some point in our life. And when we do, it’s nice to have somewhere to get that help. Whether you need help for a month or a year, these are some ideas for meals using only food from the Bishop’s Storehouse.

Other resources

The Bishop’s Storehouse is not a permanent solution. Before seeking out a food order, you should look into other options available to you or use your food storage. You may also be interested in some of my other posts that give other resources that will help you when you’re struggling:

Volunteer

If you do receive help (or even if you don’t) and are able, the Bishop’s Storehouse accepts volunteers. This is actually how they keep the place running. All you need to do is walk in and let them know that you’re there to help. Remember to pay it forward and volunteer as often as possible.

The Purpose of this Ebook

Before you can get food from a Bishop’s Storehouse, you will need to get a food order from your Bishop or Relief Society President in your ward.  This Ebook is designed to assist you after you receive your food order.

Many who go to the Bishop’s Storehouse have not been before and are often not quite sure how to use some of the food they receive.  If you’re new at food orders, you may not be used to the preparation required when cooking from scratch.  Hopefully, this Ebook can be used as a guide to: 1) use the food you are given so that it  is not wasted, 2) save time planning meals, and 3) help with small tips while preparing the food.
