Do you need a support system?

The truth is, we all need some kind of a support system in our life. As a single mom, it is necessary to have a good support system in place so that you can thrive. It truly does take a village to raise a child. One person simply cannot do it on their own.

Being a single mom is more difficult than anyone realizes. If you’re raising your kids completely on your own, you have even more pressure put on you daily. We all need help at one point in our life or another.

Mental Health

You owe it to yourself to build a healthy support system. It’s critical that you take care of your mental health. When you care for your mental health, you will be able to effectively care for your kids.

Identify who is part of your support system

I know that single parenting can feel lonely, but your support system is probably bigger than you think. When trying to think of who is part of your support system, try to think of anyone who is part of your life. Who is around to support you in any way?

Who are your:

  • Friends
  • Family
  • Kids support
  • Coworkers
  • Teachers
  • Doctors
  • Social Workers
  • Neighbors
  • Members of your community

Brainstorm

Think about who would be there for you in an emergency? Who can you count on to pick up your kids from school if you end up working late? Who is available to help you out in any situation that might come up?

Use this worksheet to help brainstorm who is a part of your support system.

How to find your tribe

If you don’t currently have a support system, you need to build one. If  you do have a support system in place, there is always room to nurture those who makeup your tribe.

Download this free printable worksheet to identify everyone in your support system.
