Caramel Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

Transform plain rice krispie treats into deliciously decadent caramel chocolate rice krispie treats.  Such a simple dessert for any time of the year. Kids and adults will both love these easy treats. All you need to do is make the rice krispie treat recipe (as found on the Kellog’s Rice Krispies box) and cover with caramel and chocolate. Voila! It’s that simple!

Caramel Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp Butter
  • 4 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 1 package Caramel
  • 1 package Chocolate Chips (or chocolate candy bar)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  2. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until coated.
  3. Using buttered spatula, or wax paper, evenly press mixture into 13x9x2 inch pan coated with cooking spray. (I also spray a baggie that I put on my hand so that I can pat the rice krispies down in the pan)
  4. Melt caramel and pour over rice krispie treats.
  5. Melt chocolate and pour as much as you prefer over top.
  6. Optional: You can also add nuts, peanut butter, fruit, M&Ms or other small candy to the rice krispie treats based on your preferences.
