Grandmas homemade sugar cookies. The softest easy to make sugar cookie that your family will love. Make these for any occasion or holiday- Valentines, Christmas, Birthday, Easter, etc.Grandma’s Favorite Sugar Cookies

These have to be the best sugar cookies I have ever had. My mom has been making these for years and gets requests to bring her sugar cookies constantly. They’re perfect for holiday’s, neighbor gifts, baby or wedding  showers, Valentine’s day, Christmas, other celebrations, or just for dessert.

You can decorate with the frosting of your choice and sprinkles or small candies. Or eat them plain if you don’t like too much added sugar.

After cutting out the cookies, my kids love to take the leftover dough and roll it out again to make their own fun shapes. They then get to decorate their own cookies however they want. It’s a great family activity to do together.

Grandma's Homemade Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 3 1/2 cups Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients.
  2. Roll out dough on a floured surface until about 1/4" thick. Cut out with cookie cutters.
  3. Bake 350 for 8-10 minutes on greased baking sheet. Do not overcook. I usually take them out of the oven a minute before I think they're done and then let them sit on the hot pan for a few minutes out of the oven before removing them.
